The ELP Model Works

Research Shows Innovative Solution to New Teacher Churn

Research released in August shows that the Educators Leading the Profession (ELP) professional support model increases the likelihood of new teachers staying in the classroom.

More than 50% of teachers entering the American teaching profession leave it by their fourth year of experience. This churn wastes valuable school district resources and is harmful to student learning. ELP conducted a two-year pilot test of their professional support model to help new teachers succeed.

Digital Promise, a respected global non-profit organization, released a summative assessment of the ELP pilot test including findings that:

Over half of new teachers leave the profession by their fourth year wasting valuable school district resources and harming student learning.

  • 85% of New Teachers in the ELP pilot test plan to stay in teaching.

  • 61% of New Teachers in the program say it helped them reduce teaching-related stress.

  • 58% of New Teachers said it improved their work-life balance.

The prevalent sentiment among participants was that the ultimate value of the ELP model was New Teachers not feeling they were alone.
